Your Mind Is On Vacation
Your Mind Is On Vacation– By Mose Allison.

Mose Allison was born in 1927 on the Mississippi Delta, and started playing boogie and blues by ear when he was just a young child. As a teen, he started listening to and copying from Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, Louis Jordan, and Nat King Cole. He spent some time in the Army, and then graduated from Louisiana State with a BA in English and Philosophy. About this time he began blending the Bud Powell’s bebop with his Bela Bartok studies. Other major influences included Thelonious Monk, John Lewis, plus the vocal styles of Percy Mayfield and Charles Brown. He landed his first record deal with Prestige in 1957, and also worked with Stan Getz, Zoot Sims, and Gerry Mulligan among others. He is still touring and is a huge success in Britain. Mose Allison songs have been covered by many artists including Van Morrison, John Mayall, The Who, The Clash, Eric Clapton, The Yardbirds, Elvis Costello, and Bonnie Raitt.
