I'm Just a Lucky So and So
“I’m Just A Lucky So and So” – By Duke Ellington and Mack David.

There is just too much to say about Duke. Here is a link to Wikipedia to learn about the man who is probably the most influential person in jazz, if not American music.

This song was maybe the first chart success for Mack David, written in 1939. Mack was born in 1912, and was writing tunes on Tin Pan Alley by 1940. After some success, he moved to Hollywood to make it big. And he did. He is known for writing the songs for Disney’s Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, plus his academy awards for The Hanging Tree, It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte, and The Ballad of Cat Ballou. Other songs he wrote include Patti Page’s hit “I Don’t Care If The Sun Don’t Shine,” the Shirelles’ smash “Baby It’s You,” Big Maybelle’s “Candy,” plus the “Casper The Friendly Ghost Theme”
